A hybrid inverter manages solar panels, a battery and the grid in one unit, and depending on the model can also accept a generator. It suits homes, businesses and farms that want to use solar energy and still have battery backup when the grid goes down.

Choosing a hybrid inverter

• Output power: Medal Power models come in 5.2, 6 and 11 kW, and the GOGO Power range includes an 11 kW model. Size for simultaneous load and motor start-up. The Medal Power 6 kW hybrid inverter is single-phase.
• Phase: for a three-phase supply, consider the Solis three-phase hybrid inverter; a single-phase Solis model is also listed.
• Battery compatibility: match the hybrid inverter's DC battery voltage to the bank's nominal voltage. With lithium batteries, also confirm BMS communication compatibility.
• MPPT inputs: they determine how many differently oriented strings can be tracked independently; the Power Solid hybrid inverter has 2 MPPT inputs.
• Mounting: every model here is wall-mounted.
