AGM, deep-cycle, GEL or tubular?
- Small AGM for standby: the usual pick for UPS and alarms, with 6 V 4.5 Ah and 12 V 5, 7, 9 and 18 Ah models from Power Solid, Medal Power and GOGO Power, such as the Power Solid 12 V 7 Ah battery.
- Deep-cycle AGM: Power Solid DCR series in 26, 40, 65 and 200 Ah for repeated deep discharge, such as the Power Solid 12 V 200 Ah deep-cycle battery.
- GEL: usually handles daily cycling better than standard AGM; Medal Power 100, 150 and 200 Ah and GOGO Power 200 Ah, such as the Medal Power 12 V 150 Ah GEL battery.
- Tubular: built for heavy cyclic duty, such as the 3Watt 12 V WT-1259K-T3; check its manual for maintenance.
Build banks from same-model, same-age batteries, wire 12 V units in series where needed to match inverter voltage, set the right charge profile and avoid over-discharge (see battery depth of discharge).
